I’m sure I’ve talked about this before, but TJ and I love all things aviation. So much so that we even took some of our engagement pictures at the Raleigh/Durham airport’s observation park.
In the past few years, TJ has flown a helicopter, I’ve flown a small plane, we’ve taken a hot air balloon ride together, and we’ve ridden in a helicopter together. On Saturday, it was TJ’s turn to fly a small plane, so we headed out to RDU to fly around in a Diamond Aircraft for about an hour. The lesson was through Blue Line Aviation, and we had a great instructor with us. The whole experience was amazing, and we’d love to do it again! We’ve both talked about getting our pilot’s license at some point, but for now, we’ll just keep taking lessons when we find a deal for them. Maybe in the future we’ll be able to pursue it more seriously. As a side note, we’ve done almost all of these activities through Groupon, so be sure to keep your eyes open for similar deals, if you’re interested in aviation too!
Here are some of my favorite shots from the day:
And for my fellow Arrested Development fans, I couldn’t help but take a picture of this
Have you ever flown a plane? What are some things you’re obsessed with, like our love for aviation?

I would love to fly a plane one day. I’ve thought about taking flying lessons but they are really expensive (I’ve never thought about checking out Groupon, I’m an idiot) but that’s amazing!

Oh man, it’s so much fun! We see a good amount of Groupon deals for places in our area, so it’s definitely worth checking out. Hope you’re able to find a deal soon! Have a good weekend!

My fiance is a commercial airline pilot. Before he got hired with the airlines, he was an instructor for awhile so I’ve flown with him a few times! He went to Embry Riddle Aeronautical University and I used to LOVE visiting him at school and learning all about the history of aviation from a pilot’s perspective! We’re actually incorporating a lot of our love for aviation and travel into our wedding!

Wow, that’s so awesome! I bet the incorporation of travel and aviation in your wedding will be amazing. Hope to be able to check out pictures of it on your blog once you get hitched! 🙂

It looks like you guys had a lot of fun! I still have a goal to ride in a hot air balloon, it’s on my bucket list!

You definitely have to do a hot air balloon ride! It’s incredible, and makes for some great pictures. We found a Groupon for that too, so check there every once in a while!

Ugh, I have been dying to do this!! So jealous!

You have to give it a try if you can – it’s so much fun!
June 6, 2014
Wow that looks so awesome.. but also so so scary!

It was so fun! I love flying, but if flying in a commercial plane makes you nervous, I can definitely see how this would too. Once you’re up in the air though, it’s so amazing!! 🙂

My husband is also really into aviation. He’s actually a helicopter pilot for the name. He started out flying a piper, then a T-B Texan II, then a small Robinson helicopter and now he flys the MH-60 Romeo. And he is LOVING life. I am so interested in aviation. I grew up going to air shows with my day and just laying on a hillside watching planes take off and land. You two should add visiting the aviation museum on NAS Pensacola’s base. You’d love it!!! I miss living there and having the Blue Angels fly over multiple times a week practicing.

That’s so cool!! My husband would LOVE to get his helicopter license one day. I used to love going to air shows too – so fun! Do you ever get to go flying with your husband? We’ll definitely try to visit the aviation museum in Pensacola – thanks for the idea! Hope you have a good week 🙂
