It’s Football Food Friday again, and this week, I decided to get literal with my recipe – it’s football shaped Oreo truffles! I had regular Oreo truffles for the first time last Thanksgiving, when my mother-in-law, Diane, made them for dessert, and man, I was hooked! When we were in Rochester a few weeks ago, I went through her recipe box, writing down tons of things I want to try out, and when I came across the Oreo truffle recipe, I knew I needed to make them soon. Last week, I had the idea to shape them into footballs, and these bad boys were born. How perfect are they for watching football this weekend?
Printable Recipe
Makes 18-20 truffles
ingredients:
1 package Oreo cookies
8 oz cream cheese, softened
1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup white chocolate chips
instructions:
Place the Oreos in a food processor and crush finely.
Add the cream cheese in small chunks.
Pulse until a soft dough forms.
Use a spoon to form the dough into football-shaped ovals. Melt the semisweet chocolate chips in the microwave according to package directions.
Dip the footballs in the chocolate, covering completely.
Refrigerate for about 15 minutes, until the chocolate has hardened. Melt the white chocolate chips according to package directions. Place a ziploc bag in a cup, folding the top over. Spoon the white chocolate into the ziploc bag, and cut a small hole at the corner.
Use the ziploc bag to draw the laces on the footballs.
Refrigerate until ready to serve.
Enjoy!

Once again, something I’ll have to try! And I live in Chatham County. Don’t know how familiar you are — Pittsboro is a tiny town and we’re close to Chapel Hill north of us and Apex to the east of us.
