A few weeks ago, I did an ask me anything post, and I’m so glad that some of you had stuff to ask! I seriously thought I wouldn’t get any questions, and I’d just have to pretend like I never did that post to begin with. So really, THANK YOU! I thought about doing a vlog to answer them, but I kind of didn’t want to mess with doing a video, so a regular blog post it is. Plus, this way, I can link to blogs of those who asked questions, which is fun.
Ok, let’s dive right in…
Nadine asked: Where is one place that you really want to visit?
There are a lot of places on my travel bucket list, but the one that sticks out the most is the Hotel Kakslauttanen in Finland. They have these glass igloos that you sleep in that offer an amazing view of the Northern Lights, and it’s just a dream of mine to spend a cozy night there with the snow outside, the amazing lights above, and TJ by my side. Hopefully it will become a reality some day!
Kara asked: How do you plan on spending Valentine’s Day?! Do you make any special meals or desserts?
For every year that we’ve been together (5 now, which somehow seems long and short at the same time) I’ve done the same thing for TJ each year for Valentine’s Day – I give him 5 small gifts, one to represent each of the 5 senses. I think it’s a fun tradition, and it forces me to be creative, which is neat. So, I’ll definitely do that for him this year, and we’ll probably go out for dinner, then finish the night with Netflix. I usually make some kind of dessert, but since all of our kitchen stuff is currently packed away while our house is being fixed, my options might be a little limited this year. An easy batch of cookies might need to make an appearance though.
Mal asked: What kind of camera do you use to take your pictures? iPhone or DSLR?
I take 90% of my pictures with a Canon T4i, which I really love. It’s what I use for all of my recipe and DIY posts, and generally any posts that I’ve planned out in advance. I’ve had this one for a few years, and before it I had the T2i, so I guess it’s safe to say that I’m a Canon fan. It’s really user friendly, lightweight, and I think it takes great quality pictures. The other 10% I take with my iPhone (like the one above), which is good for taking pictures I wasn’t planning to take, like the cats being cute, etc.
Mal also asked: Do you have a favorite font?
I totally love discovering new fonts, and I go through waves in using my new favorites all the time. Right now, I’m loving Hagin (seen above) and Tamoro, which I use on a lot of my recipe photos. I’m always looking for new fonts, so if you have any favorites, please share them with me!
Lisa asked: If you could do anything really well without putting in any effort into training/learning/etc, what would it be? (Like speaking a language, playing piano, etc!)
I would love to be a pilot! Since flying lessons are fairly expensive and take a lot of time, I think it would be amazing to wake up one day and be able to fly a commercial airline across the country if I wanted to. Or really, even just a small Cessna would be fine. I’ve taken one small plane lesson before, and flying was seriously one of the most amazing feelings ever. I wish I could do it all the time.
Megan asked: What is your absolute favorite book? (You can only pick one!)
Tough choice, but probably Baby Proof by Emily Giffin, because I could relate to the main character not wanting to have kids. I haven’t read many books about women who don’t want to be a mother, so it was nice to feel like I could totally relate to that aspect of a character. I can’t recommend Emily Giffin’s books highly enough – if you’ve never read her stuff, check it out!
Finley asked: What would your last wish meal be?
Ah, this one might be the hardest to answer! I have a lot of favorite meals, but I think authentic Mexican food would have to be it. I’d want loads of chips and salsa, a chicken quesadilla, rice, beans, and cookies and cream ice cream (which is not Mexican, but still delicious) for dessert. Hey, a girl can dream, right?
Seriously, thank you guys so much for asking questions! This was such a fun blog post to write, and I hope to do another one in the future. Now, I’m going to steal Finley’s question to ask you: what would you want your last meal to be?
