Printable Recipe
ingredients:
for the pretzel bites:
1 can French loaf bread
1/2 stick butter
kosher salt, for sprinkling
for the jalapeno cheese dipping sauce:
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon flour
3/4 cup milk
1 clove garlic, minced
1 jalapeno pepper, finely diced
1 cup colby jack cheese
1 teaspoon cayenne pepper
instructions:
Preheat your oven to 375, and place your French loaf dough on a cutting board.
Slice the dough in half, lengthwise, leaving yourself with two long strips of dough.
Cut each strip into small pieces.
And then roll each little piece into a ball.
While you’re forming the dough into balls, bring a pot of water to a boil.
Drop the balls of dough into the boiling water, about 10 at a time, and leave them in the water for about a minute.
Using a slotted spoon, remove the dough, and place on a paper towel that has been sprayed with cooking spray.
Once you have boiled all of the balls of dough, place them on a foil lined baking sheet and bake for 25 minutes.
While your pretzel bites are baking, start working on the cheese sauce. In a small saucepan, melt 1 tablespoon butter.
Throw in the flour and the milk, and whisk to combine it all up.
Add in the garlic, and stir it all together.
Finally, throw in the jalapeno pepper.
Use a wooden spoon to stir until the sauce starts to thicken.
Stir in the cheese and the cayenne pepper, and remove from heat.
Throw the sauce into a bowl, and try not to drool too much.
By now, the pretzel bites should be golden brown and ready to come out of the oven.
