For most of my life, I considered myself to be pretty spontaneous, but I’m starting to realize that I thrive off of routines. For example, TJ and I have a new Saturday morning routine, where I make a grocery list as soon as we wake up, and then we do all of our shopping for the week at 8am, right when Target opens. It feels great to get a task like that out of the way right as the weekend starts, and it keeps me from making multiple trips to the grocery after work every week, like I had been doing before.
I’m also going to start a new routine, in regard to responding to comments. Remember last week, when I “confessed” that I was really slow to responding? (Haha, like you guys didn’t already know that!) Well, after TJ read the post, he asked me what I was going to do to get better about it. After doing some thinking, I decided to start responding to comments on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays. Like I mentioned above, I do well with routines, and I think this is manageable enough to not get overwhelming. One of the coolest parts of blogging is getting to know you guys, and I know that a lot of that comes through interacting through comments. I want to get to know all of you better, and I think this new response schedule will really help me with that.
Here’s a little of what we were up to over the weekend:
1. I did a little attempt at some simple Valentine’s Day nails, and I’m happy with how they turned out! But let’s be honest, it took me 3 tries to get that heart looking decent.
2. My handsome Valentine! We were snowed in from Wednesday afternoon through Friday, but by Friday night everything had melted and we were able to go out for dinner together. We had a lot of fun, even though we were somehow put at a table in a room with all of the couples there with kids.
3. I spent a good chunk of time in the kitchen on Saturday, doing a little baking and cooking. Looking forward to sharing both recipes here this week – and I’m also curious, do you prefer baking or cooking?
4. While TJ was working on some blog stuff for me yesterday afternoon, Owen and I did a whole lot of relaxing.
Now, tell me about your weekend!

I love getting all our grocery shopping done early in the weekend because then I feel like I can really relax! I can’t get Brian up at 8am though haha

Agreed! If I get up and do something productive right away, it makes me feel like I can do next to nothing for the rest of the day, haha.

We don’t live together but we grocery shop together (is that weird? haha) on Mondays. Our favorite deli lady works Monday nights so we made that our official grocery shopping day. I prefer cooking but that’s only because what little experience I have in the kitchen is with cooking! Haven’t quite spread my wings in the baking department outside of Better Crocker’s boxed stuff! 🙂

Haha, not weird that you guys grocery shop together at all! TJ and I used to do the same thing, and I always thought it was great to make “dates” out of ordinary, mundane tasks.

trader joes is always so packed on the weekends, so i try to get out and about early shopping myself! Maybe not at 8 am, but somewhere around there!
You’re a trooper for getting up that early on a Saturday!

Ahh, I want to start going to Trader Joes more often! I love that the grocery stores are much less crowded in the mornings – it makes the whole experience more pleasant!
