I’ve had this handwritten script scarf on my list of things to make since last Fall. As the holidays came and went, and the weather started turning warmer, I ended up forgetting about it. Then about a week ago, I came across it again, and I knew it was the perfect time to finally make it. This isn’t a hard project at all, but it is a bit time consuming. After seeing the end result though, I would absolutely say that the time it took is worth it. I love that you can completely customize it with your favorite poem, song lyric, quote, etc so that it feels uniquely yours. And how great would this be as a handmade Christmas gift for your friends and family?

I used the lyrics from “It’s Love” by The Softies.

a pashmina scarf in the color of your choice (I used this one)
Marvy Fabric Markers in Black (I ended up using 3 of them, and I found them at AC Moore)
brown paper bags

instructions:
Lay out brown paper bags to match the length and width of the scarf. Then lay the scarf out straight, and try to smooth out any wrinkles. As you can see, I took this picture before I smoothed out the wrinkles.

This little marker is awesome!

From here, you can just get started with writing! It’ll take a word or two to get into a rhythm of how to write on the fabric, but once you get the hang of it, it’s fairly easy. I wanted the script to be extra black, so I ended up going back over each letter a second time to make it darker.

For this specific fabric marker, you just have to let it sit overnight to dry, and then it’s ready to go. No need to iron it to seal in the ink!
