I didn’t do as much reading in March, mostly because of the craziness of getting ready to move back into our house. Hopefully I can do better this month, but to be honest, I’m not off to a great start so far. Unpacking is time consuming, guys!

Save Me by Kristyn Kusek Lewis
First of all, I liked this book a lot because it takes place in the Raleigh/Durham area, which is where I live, so that was cool. But, it also took a real look at the complications of marriage, and the affect that infidelity has on it. I thought it was a great book, and it kept my interest the whole time I was reading it.
The verdict: Read this one, especially if you enjoy reading books about marriage.

Signs of Life by Natalie Taylor
This memoir is about a woman who lost her husband while she was pregnant. I don’t usually read a lot of memoirs, but I thought that this one sounded really interesting, and my heart went out to this poor woman just from reading the book description. Unfortunately, I just could not get through this book. I was forcing myself to pick it up, and I just couldn’t make myself enjoy it. I wanted to like it so much, but about halfway through, I couldn’t stand reading it any longer, so I gave up on it.
The verdict: Pass on this one.

Wreckage by Emily Bleeker
Oh man, this was the best book I read in March. I loved it so much that I almost couldn’t put it down, and every time I did put it down, all I wanted to do was talk about it with TJ. It’s a novel about a few people who were stranded on a deserted island for a couple years, and it alternates character perspectives as well as goes back and forth between present time and past time. It was excellent, and I kind of want to go back and re-read it.
The verdict: Go read this one right now. Like, seriously.

Forgotten by Catherine McKenzie
I’ve had my eye on this one for a few years, especially because I’ve liked other novels by Catherine McKenzie in the past (here’s my review on Arranged). For whatever reason, I kept putting off reading it, but when I saw that the price was discounted last month, I decided it was the right time to finally bite the bullet. It’s about a woman who is visiting Africa when an earthquake strikes, cutting off all communication for 6 months, which leaves her friends and family thinking she’s died. When she finally gets back home, she has to deal with what it’s like to “come back from the dead.” Overally, I would say I liked, but not loved this book. It was good, but I wasn’t dying to pick it back up once I put it down.
The verdict: It’s a fairly light read, so read this if you’re in the mood for something light and easy.
