Thanksgiving Break in 10 Pictures

It’s the Monday after Thanksgiving, and it feels like the last week just went by in a big, fun blur! TJ was in Rochester, NY for a little over two weeks, and I joined him up there on the 21st, for an extended Thanksgiving break. It was a lot of fun spending time with his family and friends up there, and I loved all of the snow we got to experience. I thought it’d be fun to share 10 pictures I took during the course of the break, and let them do most of the talking today.

I rented a car and drove from Raleigh to Rochester on the 21st, which took about 11 hours. It was long, but a lot of fun – solo road trips are good for the soul.

On the 22nd, TJ celebrated one year of owning his own business, Nevis Technology. I made him this sign to hang up in his office.

Elephant
TJ’s mom always has some fun craft ideas for us to work on when I go up there, and this time, we put together this cute elephant made from different sized flower pots. Clever, right?

TJ’s birthday was on Thanksgiving, but we mostly celebrated on Wednesday. He’s not a big fan of cake (?!), so he picked out an ice cream log instead.

This year, I experienced my first ever “white Thanksgiving”, which was so cool! I LOVE snow, and I thought this was the coolest thing to wake up to.

I made this extra cheesy macaroni and cheese for Thanksgiving dinner.

We went to TJ’s aunt and uncle’s house for Thanksgiving dinner. They have a lot of land and an ATV, so before we ate, TJ and I went for a snowy ride that was a lot of fun.

On Saturday, we made the drive back to Raleigh, which took about 12 hours this time because of the extra holiday traffic. We spent the trip listening to all 9 episodes of Serial, which was so fascinating. We kept pausing it to discuss our theories, and it made the trip fly by.

Yesterday, we spent the day with my parents. We watched the Steelers lose, and then cheered up a bit by having some hot chocolate and going to our favorite local Christmas tree lot.

There were so many beautiful trees, but the four of us finally settled on the perfect tree for my parents’ house, which is absolutely one of my favorite holiday traditions.

How was your Thanksgiving holiday? Have you been listening to Serial? Let’s discuss theories if you have!!

Looks like a great Thanksgiving trip! I agree, solo roadtrips are good for the soul. Your mac and cheese looks sooooo good and I am jealous you got to pick out a tree already!

    Who doesn’t like cake?! That’s a tragedy!
