Let Me Be Clear

I was sent these products in exchange for an honest review. No other compensation was given, and all opinions are my own. Now, let’s get to the good stuff!

Time for a little story about skin. My face skin to be exact. Back when I was in high school, I had nearly perfect skin. I’d get a pimple every now and then, but for the most part, I was lucky to never give my skin much of a second thought. In fact, I don’t think I really used foundation before I was 20 or so.

Then, somewhere around the ripe old age of 22, when most people are outgrowing their skin issues, mine began, and they were after me with a vengeance. It felt like I woke up one day, and all of the sudden my face was splattered with pimples. I tried tons of different products, but nothing helped. In fact, it continued to get worse. My cheeks were the worst, and I distinctly remember looking at my face one day and realizing that I didn’t have pimples anymore, I had acne. It was embarrassing, especially as someone who’d always had near perfect skin.

It also started right around the time that I met TJ, and I hated to know that the only Ashley he’d ever known was the Ashley with skin issues. One day he even told me that my skin looked clear. It was a perfectly nice compliment, but I couldn’t help but think that if he thought to bring it up, then he must be pretty surprised by it. I wanted to tell him, “no you don’t get it, I’ve always had great skin – this is just a blip on the radar.” But it wasn’t – my skin issues continued over the next three years.

Somehow, almost as quickly as it appeared, my skin started clearing up about a year ago. I hadn’t really made any changes, it just seemed like the issues had mostly run their course. I still have one small spot on my left cheek that isn’t as clear as I’d like it to be, but it’s better. And I still get a few pimples now and then too (as you can see in these pictures!), but they’re becoming more few and far between. I’ve finally started to feel more like myself again.

When I was approached by Sara from Rodan + Fields about trying their skincare product, I was equally nervous and excited. Nervous, because now that my skin is finally starting to clear up, I’m hesitant to use new products on it, for fear that my issues will come rushing back. I was more excited though, because it was the chance to try out a product that seemed awesome, and I was hoping that it could help invigorate my skin. I was able to try the Enhancements Micro-Dermabrasion Paste, the Redefine Night Renewing Serum, and the Redefine Lip Renewing Serum, and I was honestly pretty blown away. I used the paste in the morning, and it left my skin feeling so soft. Then, at night, I used the night serum and the lip serum, and once again, I was really impressed. My lips tend to get dry in the fall/winter, but with the lip serum they felt amazing.

If you’re looking for a new skincare regimen, I’d encourage you to learn more about the Rodan + Fields product line, and give it a try. Sara is also giving away a mini-facial kit to three of you! Best thing about my skin is for the most part it’s acne free except for a few pop ups at that time of month!

The one thing that I love about blogging is that people are usually completely honest to all their readers! I grew up with terrible acne and have used foundation since I was about 10. Thanks for encouraging me to love my skin 🙂

Hmmm best thing about my skin? I don’t suffer from bad break outs or acne all the time…just once a month :p

I had the exact same problem you did! I had perfect skin growing up and then as an adult, it kind of came out of nowhere. It actually affected my back as well (so embarrassing). Over time, it got better on its own but I’m much more susceptible to getting a blemish nowadays than I was as a kid. I have to be careful about drinking enough water, moderating the greasy foods, and washing my face regularly. The best thing about my skin is that, for the most part, it stays clear most of the time now! As long as I stick to what I mentioned. 🙂

I totally get where you’re coming from! I had near perfect skin, a few very minor breakouts when I was 16-17ish but other then that nothing! Now that I’m a little older (just turned 21 back in August) I’ve started to see a bit more blemishes than I’m used too. It’s definitely crazy how much our skin changes at random! I’m glad you’ve found something that works for you!!! 🙂

Um… best thing is that since it’s so oily I might have fewer wrinkles when I get older? At least this was the case for my grandpa and is the case for my mom so that’s what I’m going with haha

The best thing about my skin is that it mostly looks youthful even though I’m 29. Everyone thinks my younger sister, by 8 years, is older than me, but with my acne I can’t get rid of now, I really look young. So it’s good and bad.
