Jalapeno Burgers

It’s no surprise that I’m beyond excited for the start of the NFL season – I’ve only talked about it on here oh, about 800 times. The first game of the season was last night (SO happy that the Ravens lost!), but the rest of the league will play on Sunday or Monday night. Since football games are the perfect opportunity for chowing down on good food, I’ve been toying around with the idea of starting a newly weekly feature called “Football Food Fridays”, where I’ll be posting a recipe specifically great for football watching.

I’ve even been kind of thinking of doing a link-up with it, so you guys can add your favorite football recipes too? Is that something that any of you would be interested in? Hmm, I’ll keep thinking about it, and you guys let me know if you’d be into it.

Ok, now onto more important things, like these Jalapeno Burgers! TJ has been making these for the last few years, and it’s quickly become my favorite way to eat homemade burgers. He’s usually the burger guru in our house, but when I decided that I wanted to post this recipe, I knew that I needed to make them myself. I only like sharing stuff with you guys that I can easily make myself. These spicy burgers would be the perfect meal for watching the Steelers (hopefully!) beat the Titans on Sunday!

Printable Recipe
Makes 2 burgers

ingredients:
2 hamburger patties
1 tbsp chopped jalapenos
salt and pepper, to season
olive oil
2 slices provolone cheese
2 hamburger buns
toppings as desired

instructions:
Gently press 1/2 tbsp jalapenos into the top of each hamburger patty.

Lightly season each side of the patty with salt and pepper.

Drizzle a small amount of olive oil in a skillet, and heat over medium heat until the oil begins to glisten.

Place the patties jalapeno side up in the pan, and cook for about 5 minutes, until the bottom starts to become golden.

Flip the patties with a spatula, and cook for another 4-5 minutes. Top each burger with a slice of cheese, and place on a paper towel to drain. Toast the buns, and top with the burgers.

Top as desired, and enjoy!

Most importantly, GO STEELERS!

These look absolutely delicious! I’m the only one in my family that likes spicy anything so I’m glad this is totally adjustable to how much you need.

These look great, shame I don’t like hamburgers! The husband would though. We’re going to see the Steelers at Wembley in 3 weeks – so excited!!!
