I’m Secretly an 80 Year Old

We may look young, but we don’t always act like it

In just a little over a month, I’ll be turning 26, but truthfully, TJ and I both act more like we’re senior citizens. I think I’ve always been a bit of an old soul, acting much older than my years. There’s even a video of me at my 5th birthday party where my dad dressed up like a clown and told me that the cupcakes for the party looked good. My response? “You’re welcome to have one, if you’d like.” Word for word, at 5 years old. So now, just a few weeks shy of 26, I thought I’d share with you the top 5 ways I act like an 80 year old, accompanied by How I Met Your Mother gifs.

1. Having dinner after 5:30pm sounds like some kind of late night torture. I’m ready for dinner when I get home from work a little after 5. Waiting hours to have dinner? No thanks.

When someone suggests meeting for dinner at 8pm

2. Even on the weekends, I don’t usually sleep later than 6:30am. My internal clock is telling me it’s time to get up! Plus, then I don’t feel bad about wasting the day away by sleeping.
Our friends’ reactions when we talk about waking up at 6am on Saturday morning

3. The “kids these days” drive me crazy. Why are they so loud all the time? And why do 9 year olds have iPads? I don’t get it.
It’s 8:30 on a Tuesday night – why are you outside playing?

4. Going out somewhere loud and crowded sounds like the worst thing ever. Loud music, tons of people, and nowhere to sit – this is supposed to be fun?
Why go out when we could just stay in?

5. The thought of having to learn a new social media site exhausts me. I’m just now learning how to use Twitter. I can’t even think about introducing Vine or Snapchat into my world.
When I hear people say this, I’m like “bummer, now I have to figure out a new site”

Luckily, I married an equally old soul, so TJ and I can happily enjoy acting like mid-twenties senior citizens together.

hahaha I can relate to so many of these!!!

In college, my roommate and I would stay in on Friday nights because we didn’t want to stay out late or get ready for that matter. Pathetic.

OMG! I feel the same way. The other day I told my boyfriend “I really can’t drive at night anymore, I can’t see good at night like I used to”.

    So my life!

I am an 27 year old, old lady – I’m right there with you on pretty much all of these except the last one. I love me some Twitter, Vine, Snapchat (I’m a newbie there, though!), and Instagram! I’m crazy addicted to all of them!

And while I feel the same way about dinner, my husband *doesn’t* – he prefers to study first, eat later, so lately we’ve been eating around 8:00pm. It pretty much kills me..

Right there with ya sister- I’m totally an old soul 😉 We much prefer staying in and/or having OUR friends over for food/drinks. Loud crowded places stress me out haha!

This is great. I especially agree with #5 – “What am I supposed to be doing with this? Gee willikers, how much time is this going to take?”

hahahahaha. this is one funny post! I think we would get along great, seriously! the only thing I’m okay with on that list is learning new social media – I guess I’m a geek when it comes to that; everything else, yeah…count me in!

I wake up early all the time, whether there’s a reason to or not! I’m kind of forced to eat dinner late because my husband doesn’t get home from work till 8 pm…but sometimes I just make dinner early and give him reheated food….sorry, but it’s really not fun to eat that “late” at night!
