DIY: Interactive Scrapbook (Sneak Peek)

When I was younger, I loved reading just as much as I do now. A lot of times, I would dive into chapter books, but my favorite types of books were always the “interactive” ones. The one that sticks out to me as the best was called “The Jolly Postman” by Janet & Allan Ahlberg. It was such an adventure to make my way through the book, reading the letters and notes that were attached inside. Over the years, I’ve thought of the book often, and how much I genuinely enjoyed it. A few weeks ago, I had the idea to make my own version of an interactive book, this one based on my love story with TJ. The book is currently just a work-in-progress, but I’ve been having such a great time with it, that I wanted to share some of what I’ve done with it so far. As I add to the book, I’ll continue to share what I’ve done. If you’re interested in making one of your own, I’ve included a few tips for what I’ve done. I hope you enjoy what I’ve done so far, and that your own creativity is sparked!
Let’s take a look:
Maps are a fun way to decorate a page, while still contributing to the story.
Envelopes are a big reason that I enjoyed “The Jolly Postman” so much, so I plan to include a wide variety of them in our book.
Quirky little details are so much fun to look back on.

Seemingly random dates are what make up the most important moments of our lives. I love the look of listing those important ones out.

Little embellishments can really make a page pop.

Perfection is not a necessity. My pen started to run out when I wrote the word “everything”, but that’s ok – it just makes the book uniquely ours.

Please let me know if you decide to make one of your own!
